Motorcoach drivers are susceptible to fatigue, which can lead to dangerous driving conditions.
Fatigue is a real problem for motorcoach drivers, and it's something that needs to be discussed more openly. Drivers need to be aware of the dangers of fatigue and learn how to stay safe on the road.

Lets look a little closer -
Types of fatigue
· Acute fatigue – lasting one month or less
· Subacute fatigue as lasting between one and six months
· Chronic fatigue as lasting over six months
Causes of fatigue
· Medical causes – unrelenting exhaustion may be a sign of an underlying illness, such as a thyroid disorder, heart disease or diabetes.
· Lifestyle-related causes – alcohol or drugs or lack of regular exercise can lead to feelings of fatigue.
Recognizing fatigue
· Many people report a struggle to recognize their fatigue or understand how quickly it develops.
· “I haven’t the capability of knowing, I only realize when my brain starts to shut down.”
What is the Treatment for Fatigue?
A physical cause has been estimated to be responsible 20% to 60% of the time, while emotional or mental causes comprise the other 40% to 80% of cases of fatigue. Unfortunately, fatigue can occur in normal individuals that experience intense physical or mental activity (or both).
The treatment for fatigue depends upon the cause. Some treatments for conditions that cause fatigue include medications, antibiotics, vitamins, and exercise. Medical treatment of fatigue depends on the treatment of its underlying cause(s). Fortunately, many causes of fatigue may be treated with medications, for example, iron supplements for anemia, medications, and machines to help sleep apnea, medications to control blood sugar, medications to regulate thyroid function, antibiotics to treat infection, vitamins, and/or recommendations for dietary changes and a sensible exercise program. Again, treatment of the underlying cause(s) is the key to treatment of the symptom of fatigue.
